Leadership
Betsy Henning, Principal
When Betsy Henning walks into a room, things start to happen. “Each of us makes a difference,” she says. “Make yours intentional and deliberate. Own it. Enjoy it. Make it yours.” An expert communications strategist with a focus on business development and consumer marketing, she has worked with clients ranging from Fortune 100 giants to startup businesses to nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. She has led strategic and creative communications efforts for the HP Brand Innovation Lab, the HP/Compaq merger and the Confluence Project, a series of seven art installations developed with artist/architect Maya Lin. Betsy believes the best work comes from nurturing an environment where creativity can flourish. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and writes creative nonfiction in her spare time. Call her at 360.397.2583 to discuss your strategic challenges, brow-furrowing business situations or plain old wild ideas.
Sue Sell, Creative Director
As mentor to 35 writers, Sue Sell keeps AHA!’s creative juices flowing. In addition to developing communications for HP, Charles Schwab & Company, Inc., and the Confluence Project, she is the editor of Praxis, AHA!’s annual creative writing publication, and leads AHA!’s weekly writers’ workshops. Before coming to AHA!, she spent sixteen years working on financial services marketing campaigns for Bank of America and then First Fidelity, where she developed communications for its 1996 merger with First Union National Bank. She can tell you stories about way back when the first ATMs were called “Versatellers.” Sue says she’s found her dream job—collaborating with other writers to keep AHA! producing the highest quality work. That may be why she laughs so much. “Someone once told me you need to have 62 good belly laughs a day for optimum health. I almost never catch anything,” she says. Sue holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English from Georgia State University and writes highly autobiographical (at times) fiction. Call Sue at 360.397.2586 when you need a good story.
